"TÜV AUSTRIA is your reliable partner for tests according to the Work Equipment Ordinance (AM-VO) for cranes, hoists and gates."

Testing in accordance with the Work Equipment Ordinance

Every day we use equipment to lift and transport loads and people, walk through automatic doors and gates and use a wide variety of mechanical aids.

Safety is the top priority here, as a fall – be it of loads or even people – almost always ends fatally. Therefore, special requirements are placed on lifting equipment in order to be able to use it safely for the intended purpose.

TÜV AUSTRIA is your reliable partner for testing cranes, lifting devices and gates in accordance with the Work Equipment Ordinance (AM-VO).

Testing services

The legal basis for the testing activity in Austria is the ASchG (Employee Protection Act) with the associated Work Equipment Ordinance (AM-VO). The following tests are carried out by TÜV AUSTRIA:

  • Inspections according to § 17 and § 37 ASchG (Employee Protection Act): Certain work equipment must be specially checked for its proper condition, correct assembly and stability before it is put into operation for the first time, after it has been set up at each new place of use and after major repairs, major modifications and subsequently at regular intervals.
  • According to § 7 of the Work Equipment Ordinance (AM-VO), acceptance tests must be carried out on certain work equipment before it is put into operation for the first time.
  • Recurring inspections must be carried out once a year according to § 8 of the Work Equipment Ordinance (AM-VO).
  • According to § 9 of the Work Equipment Ordinance (AM-VO), inspections after extraordinary events must be carried out on work equipment for which recurring inspections are required according to § 8.
  • According to § 10 of the Work Equipment Ordinance (AM-VO), tests after installation must be carried out on certain work equipment at each new place of use.
  • Checks according to regional legal bases e.g. Vienna Garages Act (WGarG).
